Brisbane to Miles

Wed 25 June 25

Welcome to our Carnarvon Gorge Explorer Tour! We have a travel day today, as we meet our friendly crew and get to know our fellow explorers and head out towards central Queensland’s Sandstone Wilderness. We’ll be stopping for convenience breaks and to purchase lunch along the way. We spend our first night on tour together in the rural town of Miles.

Day 2 : (BLD)

Miles to Carnarvon Gorge

Thu 26 June 25

We continue our journey to the outback oasis of Carnarvon Gorge. We stop at Injune on the way for lunch and a look at the Visitor Information Centre. By mid-afternoon, we will arrive at the Carnarvon Gorge Wilderness Lodge. The lodge is situated at the base of the Carnarvon Range, so take some time to relax, refresh and appreciate the area’s natural beauty.

Day 3: (BLD)

Carnarvon Gorge

Fri 27 June 25

Today we have the opportunity to do a guided walk in the Main Gorge with Carnarvon Gorge Eco Tours*. Their experienced Australian Nature Guides will show us the wonders of Carnarvon Gorge’s landscapes and wildlife, seen through the eyes of a local.

Day 4: (BLD)

Carnarvon Gorge

Sat 28 June 25

This morning, we visit Nyanda Station to meet a third generation farming couple and hear about the challenges of life in this remote area while we enjoy billy tea around the fire. In the afternoon you may like to visit the Carnarvon Gorge Visitors Information Centre and take the Nature Trail walk. There are also opportunities to do a short walk to Mickey Creek or the Rock Pool. Otherwise you can choose to simply relax on the balcony of your safari style cabin and watch the kangaroos, echidnas and birds.

Day 5: (BLD)

Carnarvon Gorge to Roma

Sun 29 June 25

We farewell Carnarvon Gorge today and head to Roma, an early Queensland settlement and now the centre for a huge sheep and cattle raising district. We visit the Roma Big Rig where we will discover the history of natural resource exploration in the Roma region. We also have the chance to climb the 40-metre Big Rig Tower (via stairs or lift) and stroll along the Tree Walk. We then make our way to our hotel for our final night on tour together.

Day 6: (BL)

Roma to Brisbane

Mon 30 June 25

We make our way home via the Warrego Highway. We stop in Oakey for our farewell lunch. We arrive home later this afternoon, from a fantastic adventure at Carnarvon Gorge.
