Brisbane to Bundaberg
Mon 19 Jul 21 (D)
Spend your days uncovering the delights of Bundaberg, Agnes Water, Seventeen Seventy and Lady Musgrave Island on our wonderful 5-day adventure. Early afternoon we will be in Bundaberg, a historic sugar cane city. The thriving city is the perfect mix of culture and country with gracious colonial buildings, lush botanic gardens and an abundance of gourmet local produce. Discover the rich history of the Bundaberg Rum Distillery as we take a tour to explore the museum and distillery, enjoying samples of the award-winning rum. We make our way to our accommodation where we can unpack and relax before our welcome dinner (lunch at own expense / dinner in hotel).
Lady Musgrave Island
Tue 20 Jul 21 (BLD)
An underwater oasis is waiting to be discovered as we travel on a high-speed catamaran to Lady Musgrave Island. We have the day to discover this truly unspoilt island. Pop on your snorkel and mask to reveal one of the Great Barrier Reef’s protected coral lagoons. We also discover the pristine reef habitat many marine and land animals call home by glass bottom boat or an island walk. The tour will also include a wonderful lunch. What a day on the glorious reef! (breakfast & dinner in hotel / lunch included).
Bundaberg to Agnes Water
Wed 21 Jul 21 (BD)
Following breakfast, we set off for our morning touring in Bundaberg. As we drive around ‘Bundy’ look out for the local landmark, the ‘Whaling Wall’. This is a fantastic marine life wall mural on one of Bundaberg’s highest buildings in the town centre. Our next visit is to the Bundaberg Botanic Gardens where we have a chance to ride on the Australian Sugar Cane Railway. The train ride will take us throughout the gardens passing attractions such as the Hinkler Hall of Aviation, which we will also visit today. The centre is dedicated to the life and times of the famous aviator Bert Hinkler. In 1928, he made the first solo flight between England and Australia. Following our sightseeing, we drive to Agnes Water for our next two nights (breakfast & dinner at hotel / lunch at own expense). )
The Town of 1770
Thu 22 Jul 21 (BLD)
After a leisurely morning, we travel to Seventeen Seventy (also known as 1770) where we discover vast sandy beaches and crystal-clear water. We’ll experience the same magnificent beauty that greeted Lieutenant James Cook when he stepped ashore here more than two centuries ago. There is a certain kind of golden sparkle that glistens across the ocean here. First, we enjoy a delicious lunch at the Marina Café before embarking on the Larc! Take in the magical views and magnificent wildlife of Round Hill Creek and Eurimbula National Park coastline while watching the sun approach the horizon and enjoying entertaining historical commentary. It’s the perfect way to experience 1770 (breakfast & dinner at hotel / lunch included).
