Discover Lightning Ridge

Today we travel to the legendary Lightning Ridge, home of the rare Black Opal. After a scenic drive, we meet our local guide for a fascinating town tour, visiting local landmarks like Three Mile Flat and Lunatic Hill. The afternoon offers a chance to attend the thrilling Black Opal Bull & Bronc Ride, part of the Easter Festival’s vibrant lineup.

Easter Festival- Entertainment, Opals & Fireworks

A day of leisure and celebration awaits at the Lightning Ridge Easter Festival. From live entertainment and Easter games to quirky stalls and opal shops, there’s something for everyone. Take the opportunity to visit the John Murray Art Gallery and Down to Earth Opals to see the dazzling ‘Fire and Ice’ opal. The evening culminates in a spectacular fireworks display—pure outback magic!

Markets, Bush Poetry & Underground Art

We begin with a wander through the Sunday markets before visiting A Hidden Gem, an off-grid art camp hosted by bush poets Mel and Susie. Their comic tour and morning tea are a delight. Later, we explore the Chambers of the Black Hand, an underground gallery featuring breathtaking sculptures and historic opal mining tunnels—a true Lightning Ridge treasure.

Lightning Ridge to Chinchilla

Farewelling Lightning Ridge, we journey to Surat to explore the Cobb & Co Changing Station. This engaging museum showcases a historic coach, a freshwater aquarium, and captivating exhibitions. We then continue to Chinchilla for our final night, reflecting on the rich stories and landscapes we’ve encountered.

Jimbour Homestead & Return to Brisbane

Our final day takes us to the grand Jimbour Homestead, a heritage-listed estate on the Darling Downs. We enjoy morning tea and a leisurely stroll through its stunning gardens before continuing homeward. After a week of discovery, laughter, and celebration, we return to Brisbane with hearts full and memories made.
