Day 1: (D)

Brisbane to Roma

Welcome to our Opera in the Outback Tour! With our bags packed and fellow adventurers onboard, we hit the road. We’ll stop enroute for lunch before continuing to Roma for our overnight stay. 

Day 2: (BD)

Roma to Longreach

Wed 14 May 25

We have a travel day ahead as we make our way to Longreach. Late afternoon we check into our boutique outback heritage-themed accommodation at The Staging Post (Outback Pioneers). This evening, we’ll enjoy a country classic dining experience at The Welcome Home Restaurant.

Day 3: (BL)

Winton & the Dark Sky Serenade

Thu 15 May 25

Today we make our way to Winton which was once home to dinosaurs. We’ll learn about them at the Australian Age of Dinosaurs, then we’ll visit the only museum in the world dedicated to a song – the Waltzing Matilda Centre. Tonight, we’ll return to the Australian Age of Dinosaurs to attend the Dark Sky Serenade featuring the University of Queensland Pulse Chamber Orchestra and Chorus joined by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra. Experience the glorious music as you watch the sun set, revealing the dazzling night sky.

Day 4: (BLD)

Nogo Station & Starlight Cruise

Fri 16 May 25

Spend a fully hosted day with our hosts, Outback Pioneers. The morning begins at Nogo Station where we’ll learn about the merino wool story in the historic shearing sheds—complete with real merinos! This afternoon we’ll explore the Qantas Founders Outback Museum which bring the inspirational stories of one of the world’s pioneering airlines to life. Tonight is our Starlight’s Cruise Experience along the Thomson River. Enjoy a traditional stockman’s campfire dinner, complete with live entertainment, before watching the Starlight’s Spectacular Sound & Light Picture Show—a magical end to your Outback Pioneers experience.

Day 5: (B)

Singing in the Night

Sat 17 May 25

After the adventures of the past few days, today is a day at leisure. Tonight, we’ll visit Camden Park Station for Singing in the Night. Set on a working cattle station, with 360-degree views of uninterrupted horizon, we’ll hear some of Opera Queensland’s finest singers perform under the stars accompanied by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra joined by musicians from the University of Queensland Pulse Chamber Orchestra.

Day 6: (BD)

Sing, Sing, Sing & The Opera Ball

Sun 18 May 25

Today’s adventure starts at the iconic Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame. Wander through the museum’s galleries and learn about some of the nation’s greatest and bravest explorers, stock workers, pastoralists and Aborigines. Mid-morning we make our way to The Drover’s Place for Sing, Sing, Sing a fun-filled session of music making and merriment. Tonight, we’ll be going to the Festival of Outback Opera’s Opera Ball where we’ll enjoy an evening of fine dining, sublime singing and dancing on the banks of the Thomson River.

Day 7: (BLD)

Are You Lonesome Tonight?

Mon 19 May 25

Outback Pioneers’ Town Crier will announce the daily news before we enjoy some outback fun onboard the Cobb & Co Stagecoach. We’ll enjoy the hilarious Old Time Tent Show and a billy-can lunch before visiting the Kinnon & Co’s The Station Store with its treasure trove of historic nostalgia. Tonight, we’ll dress up in our finery one last time for the festival’s final performance – Are You Lonesome Tonight. Hosted at The Qantas Founders Museum, we’ll sit under the wings of iconic Qantas aircraft and listen to arias and songs by composers such as Puccini, Verdi, Slim Dusty and Dolly Parton.

Longreach to Brisbane

Tue 20 May 25

With memories of glorious melodies in our minds, we head to Longreach airport for our flight home as our wonderful Outback Opera Tour comes to an end.
