Brisbane to Old Bar
Mon 4 Dec 23
Welcome to our fantastic tour to Port Stephens. With our bags packed and fellow travellers onboard, we begin our adventure. We have a day on the coach as we travel down the NSW coast to Old Bar. We stop for convenience breaks and to purchase lunch. Arriving in Old Bar we have time to freshen up before our welcome dinner.
Day 2: (BLD)
Old Bar to Port Stephens
Tue 5 Dec 23
Our first stop is at Fighter World in Williamtown, where we have a tour of the facility and the chance to experience firsthand the day-to-day operation of an active Fighter Base. We’ll see some of the best fighter aircraft ever made, including a Rolls Royce Merlin and see the aircraft in action in the large photographic display. After lunch at the onsite café, we continue to the stunning Port Stephens. We take a look at the scenic points of Port Stephens and the Tomaree Peninsula. Our sightseeing will take us past all the major attractions including Fingal Bay, Shoal Bay, Salamander Bay, Soldiers Point and the town of Salamander.
Day 3: (BD)
Discover Port Stephens
Wed 6 Dec 23
Following breakfast, we embark on a spectacular cruise on the crystal blue waterways of Port Stephens and Nelson Bay. Listening to the interesting commentary, keep your eyes peeled for the long-time locals – the friendly dolphins. Next, we visit the Koala Sanctuary, supporting the long-term rehabilitation, preservation and conservation of koalas in a natural and idyllic bushland setting. We enjoy an afternoon of excitement as we step aboard a comfortable 4WD vehicle to take a tour of the Stockton Bight Sand Dunes. Marvel at the white sands that climb to the sky and discover the makeshift fishing village, Tin City, as it merges from the dunes like a mirage. After a day of exploration, we return to our resort.
Day 4: (BLD)
Local Touring
Thu 7 Dec 23
This morning we have some free time to relax and enjoy the resort facilities before a visit to Irukandji Shark & Ray Encounters for a guided tour that’s a little bit different. Irukandji Shark & Ray Encounters are leaders in marine education, conservation and fun! This unique experience is unmatched by any other location in the country. Visitors interact with marine life during a guided shark and ray encounter tour; joining them in their world, petting and feeding them all under the watchful eyes of the experienced guides. It will be a fun and informative morning. For lunch we head to Tailor Made Fish Farm and Cookabarra Restaurant. This is the premier Barramundi farm in NSW, producing a total of 1000 kilograms of live and freshly chilled barramundi per week. Our last visit this afternoon is nearby at Murrays Brewing Co, where we enjoy a few tastings. Tonight, we enjoy a Christmas themed dinner for our final night in Port Stephens.
Day 5: (BLD)
Port Stephens to Glen Innes
Fri 8 Dec 23
After a morning on the coach, we stop in Walcha for lunch. Continuing to the pretty village of Uralla, we stop at a wonderful shop called the Sweet Place, stocking every sweet imaginable. Our last leg takes us via Armidale into Glen Innes, known fondly as the ‘Land of the Beardies’ and it is the Celtic Capital of New England.
