Tour Itinerary
Day 1: (LD)
Brisbane to Stanthorpe
Thu 4 Dec 25
Welcome to our tour to Stanthorpe and Yamba. Be greeted with a smile from our friendly crew and fellow travellers as we begin our adventure. We stop at the Bestbrook Mountain Resort, just outside of Warwick for lunch. Wander the property, explore the collection of old machinery and uncover the treasures from yesteryear hidden throughout the Coach House. Then, we continue our travel to Stanthorpe, a place known for its stunning natural landscapes, for our first night on tour together.
Day 2: (BLD)
Stanthorpe
Fri 5 Dec 25
Tucked into a region that boasts mountains, open skies and fine produce, we head to Aloomba Lavender. Spend time wandering the gardens, paths lined with lavender bushes, while listening to a talk by a staff member as they unveil the production and uses of this versatile plant. Next, we visit the Granite Belt Christmas Farm. Renowned for bringing the ‘Christmas Spirit’ alive all year round, we are welcomed by our wonderful host and given a short talk explaining how the farm works and the uniqueness of this magical industry. Mrs Claus may even have some of her festive sweet treats on hand for us to sample. For lunch we travel to Granite Belt Brewery. Set on 30 acres of natural bushland, the country estate boasts a rustic atmosphere with delicious food and handcrafted beers. After a great day of touring, we return to our motel.
Day 3: (BLD)
Stanthorpe to Yamba
Sat 6 Dec 25
Heading out of Stanthorpe, our drive today takes us through Tenterfield and Casino before reaching the coastal town of Evans Head. We enjoy lunch overlooking the ocean at the Sandbar Restaurant. From here we arrive in Iluka – a beautiful coastal town close to one of Australia’s rarest and most accessible rainforest remnants. Here we enjoy a short ferry ride to Yamba, at the mouth of the Clarence River.
Day 4: (BD)
Yamba
Sun 7 Dec 25
This morning, we head down the coast to nearby Angourie where there is a delightful spot called the Angourie Blue and Green Pools. Blue Pool was once a rock quarry that ran across a slight problem. When an underground freshwater spring was disturbed, it was suddenly transformed into an aquatic haven. Next, we visit the Yamba Lighthouse which offers fine views of the coastline. From here we explore Yamba with a local expert before visiting the Award-Winning Yamba Museum to uncover the town’s rich and diverse history. Wander through the school rooms display depicting the historical record of public education and access the ‘Old Kirk’, the adjoining church and view the current exhibition. After time at leisure to enjoy Yamba, we return to our resort in time to freshen up before our special Christmas themed dinner at our resort.
Day 5: (BL)
Yamba to Brisbane
Mon 8 Dec 25
With our bags packed, we begin our journey home. After a morning on the coach, we arrive at the Gold Coast Motor Museum. Built by Carl and Grant Amor as a tribute to their late father, the museum showcases the siblings’ impressive private collection of cars and bikes. Next door is Stanley’s Barn where we enjoy a delicious lunch. Even though it is a new build, it has a historic feel as it was built from 100-year-old trusses and its internal walls are clad with weatherboards from 70-year-old Queensland homes. After a wonderful tour, we return home.
