Tour Itinerary
Day 1: (LD)
Brisbane to Mitchell

Our outback adventure begins as we head west from Brisbane, stopping in Chinchilla for lunch. We continue through the Darling Downs to Mitchell, where we settle in for our first night and prepare for the journey ahead.
Day 2: (BD)
Mitchell to Toogunna Plains Farmstay
Wed 15 Jul 26
We travel through Charleville and Cooladdi to Quilpie, where a local guide shares stories of the region’s rich heritage. Our day ends at Toogunna Plains Farmstay, a fifth-generation sheep and cattle station set on 130,000 acres of open plains.

Toogunna Plains Farmstay

Enjoy a guided tour of the station including morning tea and insights into pastoral life. We have lunch in the Shearing Shed. The day ends with a stunning sunset over the Kyra Sandhills, complete with drinks and canapés, before heading back for dinner under the stars.

Toogunna Plains to Birdsville

We journey deep into the Channel Country to Birdsville, one of Australia’s most iconic outback towns. Nestled between deserts and plains, Birdsville offers a warm welcome at its legendary outback pub, where we stay for two nights.

Birdsville & Big Red

Spend the morning at leisure—visit the billabong, bakery, or local gallery. In the afternoon, we tour Birdsville’s landmarks before heading to Big Red, the tallest sand dune in the region, for a breathtaking sunset experience with drinks and nibbles.

Birdsville to Winton

We travel past Carcoory Ruins and Boulia to Winton, a town rich in prehistoric discoveries and poetic history. It’s the birthplace of “Waltzing Matilda” and home to the North Gregory Hotel, where the song was first performed.

Winton - Dinosaurs & Waltzing Matilda
Mon 20 Jul 26
Explore the Australian Age of Dinosaurs and the March of the Titanosaurs Exhibition. After lunch, we visit the Waltzing Matilda Centre, the world’s only museum dedicated to a song, with interactive exhibits and local history.

Winton to Blackall
Tue 21 Jul 26
We journey through Longreach and Barcaldine to visit the Australian Workers Heritage Centre and the Tree of Knowledge descendant. In Blackall, we tour the historic Wool Scour and learn about legendary shearer Jackie Howe’s record-breaking feat.

Blackall to Roma

We travel to Roma, where the evening brings the Big Rig Night Show—an immersive outdoor experience with storytelling, drama, and a glass of Outback port under the stars.

Roma to Brisbane

Our final day takes us through Miles, Chinchilla, and Toowoomba for our farewell lunch. We return home with unforgettable memories and new friendships forged in the heart of Queensland’s outback.
