After departing Mitchell, we make our way to Charleville where we’ll begin today’s adventure at the Charleville Bilby Centre. Hear from one of the keepers about the plight of these delightful eco-engineers and understand the importance of why they’re worth saving from extinction. We’ll also get to see the unique little creatures in the centre’s nocturnal house. Our next stop is the iconic Hotel Corones. We’ll hear the story of Harry (Poppa) Corones, a true Charleville pioneer, who arrived in Australia penniless and built himself an empire, leaving his mark in Australian history. We’ll finish our day at the Charleville Bilby Breeding Centre, learning about the precious bilbies and the importance of genetic diversity in the Save the Bilby Fund’s breeding program.
