Tour Itinerary
Day 1: (D)
Brisbane to Norfolk Island
Tue 4 Nov 25
Welcome to our Norfolk Island adventure. Once we board our short flight this morning, it is not long before the iconic pine trees and green hills of Norfolk Island come into view from our window and our anticipation will begin to build. Warmly greeted upon arrival, we transfer to our home away from home, the Paradise Hotel & Resort. Surrounded by subtropical gardens, we’ll be welcomed into the resort and shown to our rooms to unpack and settle in for the next 7 nights.
Day 2: (BD)
Norfolk Island Convict History
Wed 5 Nob 25
We wake to the peaceful sounds of birds – a terrific way to start the day. We are collected by Baunti Escapes for the Island Orientation Tour. We will be introduced to the island to set the scene for our stay. Our tour includes a visit to the convict buildings in historic Kingston and St Barnabas Chapel, built from the ruins of the New Gaol. Our afternoon’s Convict Kingston Tour takes us to Kingston to hear about the first settlers, the Polynesians who came 900 years ago and the facts and legends associated with the first and second convict settlements. Following our dinner in the resort, we travel into the bushland of Norfolk Island and join Pinetree Tours for the Wonderland by Night tour. The setting is 10 acres of magical wooded Norfolk Forest, thousands of fairy lights arch overhead, illuminating the towering Norfolk Pines and creating a fairytale like atmosphere. Wonderland by Night celebrates the rich history and stories of Norfolk Island, with a collection of Old Time Island stories written by Archie Bigg. You’ll learn about everything from cows and cattlegrids to the ‘Norfolk wave’ all while watching through intricately detailed dioramas in the trees.
Day 3: (BLD)
Bushwalk, Barbeque and Island Fish Feast
Thu 6 Nov 25
We have a different breakfast setting this morning as we are taken on a gentle-paced walk through a diverse habitat from rainforest to the Captain Cook Memorial. As we ramble along the track our guide will identify local grasses, ferns and shrubs as well as bird species. Our efforts will be rewarded with a delicious barbeque breakfast amongst the pines, with all the trimmings. It will be a wonderful way to start our day. We then cruise within the lagoons of Emily and Slaughter Boys on our unique Glass Bottomed Boat Tour. Our guide will share their knowledge of Norfolk’s marine life and once we’ve “walked the plank” with these ‘mutineer descendants’, it takes a minute to get to the Reef. Here we’ll be able to view the beautiful coral gardens and tropical fish inside the calm crystal waters of Norfolk’s lagoon. Early evening, we are off to the western side of the island for the wonderful Island Fish Feast. Perched on the clifftop above Anson Bay we will have an eagle-eyed view of the tiny crescent shaped beach and the magnificent spread of ocean stretching to the far horizon. We’ll enjoy paddock to plate freshness including local fish, prepared the local way! We’ll also be entertained by a performer and Tahitian-style dancers
Day 4: (BD)
New Norfolk
Fri 7 Nov 25
Half of our group will visit the interesting property of the late Colleen McCullough. The world-renowned author of 24 books called Norfolk Island home for almost 36 years and today we have the opportunity to see into her world. She and husband, Norfolk Islander, Ric Robinson, created a luxurious hideaway and maintained their privacy to ensure that Colleen had the perfect environment for her writing. Her beloved property “Out Yenna” is now open to visitors and we are escorted through her magnificent home where we are able to view Ric and Colleen’s priceless collection of artefacts gathered on their travels all over the world. We will see where her books were researched and where she worked late into the night creating the incredible tales that have sold in their millions in so many different languages. Then we’ll be collected to meet some locals as we join the Farm & Industry Tour to witness the enterprises sustaining the Norfolk Island community. These might include a farm supplying seasonally grown fruit and vegetables to the marketplace, a palm nursery and a stunning home garden with hydroponics. This evening we participate in a fixture of Norfolk Island, the Progressive Dinner. This is the perfect way to get a taste of the real Norfolk lifestyle. Our first stop is at the northern tip of the island to enjoy pre-dinner nibbles at a clifftop home with amazing ocean views. The evening finishes with a main course and dessert at a large family home on the southern side of the island. Our host will also entertain us with some of his island experiences and share some of the historical practices and industries.
Day 5: (BD)
Norfolk Island
Sat 8 Nov 25
You have a relaxing day ahead to undertake your own sightseeing if you would like to organise an additional tour or hire a car. You might like to walk into Burnt Pine and have a coffee and go shopping, or simply enjoying the hotel surrounds. Why not find your book and enjoy the outdoors, lounging by the pool? It will be our chance to take it easy and have a rest. All activities are at your own expense and arrangement. Following dinner, we join the 1856 Untold Story tour, as the past is brought to life by recounting stories of the original families – told by today’s descendants. The 1856 Untold Story will follow their journey in the World Heritage Kingston area, revealing where they lived and how they adapted to their new life on Norfolk Island.
Day 6: (BHTD)
Markets & High Tea
Sun 9 Nov 25
This morning we have the chance to enjoy a wander through the Sunday Markets with plenty of time to snap up a bargain or two, or the opportunity to enjoy a morning Church Service. We are then collected for our special High Tea at Bounty Lodge. Originally built as a warm and welcoming home in the 1920s, the property has seen many changes over the years and now offers boutique accommodation, as well as being a wedding and function centre. The grounds are stunning and much of the interior still has its historical appearance. Dinner this evening is at our resort before retiring for the evening.
Day 7: (BLD)
Norfolk Island
Mon 10 Nov 25
This morning we visit the stunning 360° panoramic painting at Cyclorama which continues to impress with its ‘wow’ factor. It brings to life the Bounty mutiny and the history of the Norfolk Island people and is a great way to finish our tour. It will feel as though we are standing on a pier or ship’s deck and a part of the scene. A spectacular 3D effect is achieved with realistic perspective and detailed artwork stretching all the way to the visitor’s feet. Storyboards, lists and maps explain Norfolk’s history in an easy to understand way, in case there is anything we missed during the course of the last week. We also spend some time at the interesting Baunti Folk Museum before we bid goodbye to Norfolk Island with a farewell dinner at the delightful Hilli Restaurant.
Day 8: (B)

Tue 11 Nov 25
Enjoy a morning at leisure before we head to the airport and farewell this lovely island. We arrive home with fond memories of being a Norfolk Island local for a short while!
