Welcome to our Opera in the Outback Tour! With our bags packed and fellow adventurers onboard, we hit the road. We’ll stop enroute for lunch before continuing to Mitchell for our overnight stay.

Mitchell to Longreach

We have a travel day ahead as we make our way to Longreach. Late afternoon we check into our boutique outback heritage-themed accommodation at The Staging Post (Outback Pioneers). This evening, we’ll enjoy a Stonegrill Dining experience at The Welcome Home Restaurant.

Day 3: (BL)
Winton & the Dark Sky Serenade

Today we make our way to Winton which was once home to dinosaurs. We’ll learn about them at the Australian Age of Dinosaurs, then we’ll visit the only museum in the world dedicated to a song – the Waltzing Matilda Centre. Tonight, we’ll return to the Australian Age of Dinosaurs to attend the Dark Sky Serenade featuring the renowned opera stars accompanied by a Chamber Orchestra. Experience the glorious music as you watch the sun set, revealing the dazzling night sky.

Nogo Station & All Together Now

Today we have the morning with our hosts, Outback Pioneers. We begin at Nogo Station where we’ll learn about the merino wool story in the historic shearing sheds—complete with real merinos! This afternoon we’ll have the opportunity to visit the Longreach Show and experience authentic country hospitality. We’ll also enjoy the Festival of Opera’s All Together Now performance.

Singing in the Night

After the adventures of the past few days, today is a day at leisure. Tonight, we’ll visit Camden Park Station for Singing in the Night. Set on a working cattle station, with 360-degree views of uninterrupted horizon, we’ll hear some of Opera Queensland’s finest singers perform under the stars.

Sing, Sing, Sing & The Opera Ball

Today’s adventure starts at the iconic Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame. Wander through the museum’s galleries and learn about some of the nation’s greatest and bravest explorers, stock workers, pastoralists and Aborigines. Mid-morning we make our way to The Drover’s Place for Sing, Sing, Sing a fun-filled session of music making and merriment. Tonight, we’ll be going to the Festival of Outback Opera’s Opera Ball where we’ll enjoy an evening of fine dining, sublime singing and dancing on the banks of the Thomson River.

Outback Pioneers
Mon 25 May 26
Outback Pioneers’ Town Crier will announce the daily news before we enjoy some outback fun onboard the Cobb & Co Stagecoach. We’ll enjoy the Cobb and Co Courtyard Collections and Stories and a billy-can lunch before visiting the Kinnon & Co’s The Station Store with its treasure trove of historic nostalgia. We’ll also have a guided tour of the Longreach School of Distance Education. Tonight is our Starlight’s Cruise Experience along the Thomson River. Enjoy a traditional stockman’s campfire dinner, complete with live entertainment, before watching the Starlight’s Spectacular Sound & Light Picture Show—a magical end to your Outback Pioneers experience.

Longreach to Brisbane

This morning we’ll visit the Qantas Founders Outback Museum which bring the inspirational stories of one of the world’s pioneering airlines to life. This afternoon, with memories of glorious melodies in our minds, we head to Longreach airport for our flight home as our wonderful Outback Opera Tour comes to an end.
